Education and Outreach Coordinator (full time)

Basic position description
This is a full-time position with a salary and benefits. The Education and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for the development and support of Education Programs and Genders and Sexualities Alliances (GSAs) throughout Indiana. These duties include: overseeing tutoring hours, coordinating and overseeing tutoring volunteers, assisting youth with their education plans, and connecting youth to alternate educational organizations when applicable.

Position requirements
Bachelor's degree, preferably in an education field. Other skills and knowledge which will be an asset to this position: Previous experience as a presenter or group facilitator, direct service work with youth, Equal Access Act of 1984, anti-bullying programs, knowledge of LGBTQ terms and definitions, and LGBTQ community resources in Indiana.

Responsibilities
Education Coordination
Manage education program
Facilitate tutoring hours
Recruit and engage volunteers to help facilitate tutoring
Help youth formulate education plans
Connect youth with alternate education outlets when necessary
Build relationships with educational organizations
Develop a college/career readiness program
Monthly reporting

GSA Services
Facilitate the formation of new GSAs across Indiana
Strengthen existing GSAs by providing capacity building to youth leadership and adult sponsors.
Produce a GSA Leadership Summit in the fall for youth and adult sponsors and an LGBTQ Youth Summit in the spring for youth, parents, and GSA sponsors
Table IYG Info Booth at events to market IYG and disseminate information on new possibilities for local GSAs, community-based LGBTQ youth groups, and local LGBTQ resources
Establish and maintain a contact database to track community resources, contacts, and progress
Visit each GSA and community-based LGBTQ youth group at least once per school year
Monthly reporting

IYG Activity Center Responsibilities
Participate in youth activities at the IYG activity center as needed
Help youth plan various events and activities (i.e. Talent Show, Prom, and Pride) as needed

Reporting Structure
The Education Outreach Coordinator reports directly to and is supervised by the Program Manager.

Youth Development Specialist: Strengths-Based Case Manager (full time)
Job Description

Basic job description
This is a full-time position. This position serves as a case manager to voluntary and self and/or assessment-identified youth engaged in the strengths-based case management program at IYG. This position is also responsible for activity center hours and duties as identified.

Position requirements
This staff person should possess at least 2-3 years experience in youth development, social services, and have a strong foundational knowledge of LGBTQ+ issues. A Bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, communication, education, gender studies, queer studies, or related field is strongly preferred. Experience providing case management services preferred, but not required. This person must be able to pass background checks and have some evening and weekend availability.

Responsibilities
Serves as case manager in Strengths-Based Case Management program
Assist youth in creating collaborative case plans
Utilize strengths-based orientation and language with youth
Assist youth in obtaining objectives and goals set forth in case plan
Intervene in crisis situations, as needed
Participate in weekly staffing meetings
Collaborate with community partners in order to increase access for youth needs

Assist in the Activity Center as needed/requested
Maintain, develop, and cultivate the culture of the activity center both inside of the house as well as a part of all activities and events wherein IYG is represented
Perform intake assessments
Facilitate groups
Cultivate and maintain rapport with youth, indirectly and through Holding Space
Ensure safety and supervision of youth

Reporting Structure: The Youth Development Specialist: Strengths-Based Case Manager reports directly to and is supervised by the SBCM and Family Program Manager.

Volunteer Coordinator (part time)
This position is part time, 20 hours per week. The Volunteer Coordinator reports to the Director of Engagement and Marketing.

Position requirements
• Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years required experience in volunteer organizing or project management.
• Familiarity with, and a passion for LGBT issues.
• High energy, positive leadership, "can-do" attitude, flexibility, and capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated excellence organizing, managing, and communicating with staff/volunteers.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, taking initiative, and discretion are essential.
• Ability to exercise good judgment in prioritizing multiple tasks and making independent decisions.
• Interest in developing staff and volunteers as future leaders.
• Strong partnership building, marketing, and event planning skills.
• Experience with web and multimedia based electronic and social media platforms.
• Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as necessary.
• Proficient computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office (required).

Responsibilities
• Design, execute, and evaluate volunteer program with the support of the Director of Engagement and Marketing to meet volunteer needs.
• Expand and maintain relationships with volunteer base.
• Follow up with food donors weekly.
• Work with Activity Center Manager to ensure volunteer shifts and food donations are covered each week.
• Manage and grow annual volunteer base, including expansion of an existing monthly volunteer base.
• Oversee volunteers in the production of special events with the support of the Director of Engagement and Marketing.
• Assist the Director of Engagement and Marketing with the management of the Alumni Association.
• Ensure all volunteers are appropriately thanked and receive regular communication; make volunteer recognition a priority throughout the organization.
• Manage database and develop volunteer profiles; supervise data entry and maintain security and quality controls; produce reports as requested.
• Track and report all volunteer hours.
