Thrive: Dare to be Powerful

Provider Information

Thrive: Dare to be Powerful  is an eight week prevention program comprised of 90 minute sessions, written by IYG staff specifically for LGBTQ youth. Cohorts have encompassed youth ages 14-20, and preliminary data is showing a decrease in depression and an increase in self-esteem.

IYG is working with Praxis Strategies & Solutions, Inc. to make Thrive evidence-based. As part of that process, IYG will continue to offer Thrive at its drop-in center, located at 2943 E. 46th St., and will eventually seek out community partners to pilot the program in outside settings.

The sessions are as follows:

Week One: Introduction to Program and Group Agreements
Week Two: The Cognitive Behavior Model
Week Three: Queerstory (Queer History)
Week Four: Automatic Thoughts and Core Beliefs
Week Five: The Responses
Week Six: Coping Skills
Week Seven: Relapse Prevention Plans
Week Eight: Review and Celebration

If you are interested in learning more about the program, have a youth you would like to refer, or think Thrive may be a good fit for your location/population, contact the Manager of Curricula Development for additional information!
