LGBTQ+ Cultural Competency for Business
IYG's LGBTQ+ Cultural Competency Training for Businesses is a safe, non-judgmental place to openly ask and discuss any questions or concerns participants have about working with and supporting youth and adults who self-identify as Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Bisexual, Queer, Questioning, or other gender identities and sexual/romantic orientations. Without getting bogged down in terms and definitions, we discuss the concepts of Assigned Sex at Birth, Gender, Romantic Attraction and Sexual Attraction.
Participants learn the latest best practices in working with LGBTQ+ youth and adults, same-sex couples, and same-sex parents. They discuss the barriers and stigma many LGNTQ+ people face as employees, customers, or clients in the business community, and how to alleviate those to become a welcoming and affirming business to all. They also learn how to balance their own moral, cultural, and religious beliefs with their professionalism through inter active scenarios and situations.
With a focus on creating safe spaces, we discuss some basic concepts of intersecting identities, learn latest best practices in working with LGBTQ+ youth and adults, as well as direct implications to apply to their professional role.
