April 2021 Staff Spotlight

We are proud to announce our Staff Spotlight Award Winner for April: Karlie Thomas (they/them/theirs)! Karlie has been part of our amazing case management team since October of 2019 and was recently appointed the Project Prism Team Lead. It was their love for their queer family that initially led them to pursue a career with IYG. When asked about their job, Karlie said, “I love my job because it gives me the chance to help LGBTQ+ youth and young adults claim their space, flourish, and grow as their authentic selves. One of my favorite things about working for IYG is that I get to be the living, breathing example of that - engaging in my own continuous growth and representing myself authentically, all while helping to create a safer and more loving community. Additionally, as Project Prism Team Lead, I have the chance to help IYG substantially expand the way we serve youth and young adults by helping them access safe and sustainable housing through a housing-first approach. Housing is healthcare. Housing is suicide prevention. Housing is imperative, and it's a human right. I love doing my part in helping Indianapolis move towards a more equitable housing landscape while helping young people access the housing opportunities they deserve.”
