February Staff Spotlight

We are elated to share this month’s Staff Spotlight Winner: Kenya Anderson (she/her/hers)! Kenya joined the IYG staff as our Case Management Supervisor back in November of 2021. Prior to this, she had hoped to work with the organization in a volunteer capacity, but the COVID-19 pandemic put that plan on the back burner. Little did she know then that an opportunity would soon present itself for her to join the team full time. Kenya has sixteen years of experience in youth and social work, making her position at IYG a natural fit. She loves the positive energy of our workplace and being part of a greater cause. Kenya particularly loves seeing the positive impact our organization has on the young people we serve. She adds, “I wholeheartedly believe that with positive supports, a sense of community, guidance, and direction, our youth can thrive and achieve their full potential, and I want to be a part of that. I wish I knew of IYG in my youth, and I want to ensure youth receive the supports I needed at their age but could never access.” In her free time, Kenya loves to cook and paint. She also enjoys yoga and considers herself a “true crime connoisseur.” She shares her life with her partner, Heather, and their two teenaged children. She also has a daughter studying prelaw in Texas. The family also includes two fur babies: a white toy poodle named Buddrick (Buddy for short) and a free-range rabbit named Jupiter.
